Your Hosts
Allen & Judy
When Allen first jeeped into this valley forty years ago, he stopped to watch a rancher driving his Belgian horses and was invited for fresh bread. He was hooked. After several years he came back and bought the Nordic Inn while still in his twenties. It was a far cry from his family's hotel in Kansas City.
He embraced the town and its characters and was chosen Flauschink King in ''76 with Queen Annie Perko, a miner's widow. Over the years he helped designate Crested Butte as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado, thus launching our yearly festival, he's been active with our Music Festival, and has watched thousands of extraordinary athletes with disabilities triumph on the slopes through the Adaptive Sports Center he founded.
Judy who has known Allen since fourth grade returned into his life twenty years ago. She found her soulmate and her mountains where hiking, photography and skiing are her passions. She helped start the Spirit, Mind and Body group and has authored her third book, Sending Forth The Seed, a collection of poetry and images.
We look forward to getting to know you and telling you about all of our favorite spots . . . and stories. Allen is the great storyteller, and after all, a lodge without stories is just a hotel.
